Little pieces of heaven!

So I tried the peanut butter oreo brownie bites today and they were AMAZING!  We did make a few changes like crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy and they were probably twice the size of the picture ;)  Overall a quick easy and delicious treat when you can't decide between salty and sweet or cookies or brownies.  Any other good treat recipes?  PBO Brownies

Organized kids toys

So today I put all those organizational pins to use today.

I used empty diaper boxes can cover them with wrapping paper. Then I used some foam stickers to label the boxes.

We then sort of the toys to go into the different boxes and rearrange the boxes nicely on the shelf.

Tada!

Kids toys are neat and organized for no money out of pocket!  How do you keep your kids organized?

Classroom holiday doors

I know I am posting this after it is useful for this school year, but I am so excited about them I didn't want to wait until next winter (and it is still winter so I can leave them all up until winter ends!).  I decorated all 4 of the doors in my classroom for the first time this year and each one was different.  I wanted to avoid full holiday theme so I went with winter instead.  I started with the snowman door (idea from where else but Pinterest!)

From here we decided to work on the Gingerbread entrances for our pod (we have buildings that house 5 classrooms called pods in Florida).  We did both sides of the pod.

After all this I still had 2 doors left and thought it would be a shame to waste two perfectly doors.  My co-worker was discussing how she would like to have a penguin door.  So we talked out the plans on a car ride to work together one morning.  I gave her a few days and the penguin did not appear in her room (and my curiosity was killing me to see if our plans would look right) so I made the penguin door.

I was excited and done with doors since I was out of non-holiday winter related ideas when another teacher who stopped by after a meeting said, "you should make a polar bear like the Coca-Cola bears."  I am a girl who can't resist a challenge so after a few hours of pondering I had the plans and the next day the polar bear door was born.

I had lots of fun making all of my doors and my kids LOVE them!  Looking forward to being more creative and decorating for all the seasons!  I may make it my New
Years resolution and a new trend in Mrs. Coleman's Kindergarten.  :)

Braided Spaghetti Bread

So for the new recipe of the week we tried Braided Spaghetti Bread.  Overall it was a great recipe and was a big hit with the family.  We had a snafu while preparing, but everything else was smooth sailing.  The dough was very sticky even after it sat out for a few hours.  We did spray with Pam also, but when we left the dough to sit for ten minutes it stuck to the wax paper so badly that it took another 20 to get it unstuck and then still had to try to re roll the dough that had already risen.

So here are a few changes I think we would make for next time (but this is definitely a do again recipe):

  • I think we would use pizza dough instead of frozen dinner rolls since it is already rolled to about the correct size and is already a rectangle
  • We would still add sausage, but we would just cook the sausage regularly instead of in the sauce
  • I would like to try adding garlic butter to the inside and outside of the dough to make it more like garlic bread and spaghetti together
Have any of you tried this recipe or one similar?  I would love to hear any changes you made!

The beginning

So I have decided that I would start a blog to share all of the Pinterest pins that I have copied or modified to meet my own needs.  I know I am not the only person addicted to Pinterest as it gives me a sense of calm and lets me live in a fantasy world for a few minutes each day.  I am a kindergarten teacher and a mother to two boys, aged two and a half and 9 months, and a loving wife.  Because of my life's situations Pinterest has offered me many opportunities for all aspects of my life and I thought I would begin to share them with all of you!  I welcome any feedback and/or support you all have to offer and thank you for joining me on this new venture!  I am attaching a link to My Pinterest Page if you would like to follow me and see more about what I am all about.
